Situated within easy reach of the city and west Auckland - Raymond St Reserve is Auckland's best all round and most popular windsurfing venue. The beach faces west - which means prevailing sw'ly winds are an ideal cross onshore direction. The area is perfectly
sailable in any wind from southerly, through westerly to North Easterly. The area is good at any state of tide. Low tide requires a walk to shallow flat water, while high tide provides deep water straight from the boat ramp. Summer sea breezes are generally from a south/south west
direction and during a southerly flow are generally strongest in the afternoon.
